This five-legged cutie (the fifth leg is a genetic abormalty and actually has six toes) was supposed to go to Coney Island's freak show, but was instead rescued by a North Carolina woman who offered $4,000 for the Chihuhua terrier mix. She plans to have the leg, which the dog trips on as it walks, removed. Allyson Siegel outbid freak show owner John Strong, who told the original owner he was taking the dog to a "amazing animal farm," by $1,000.
I'm glad the dog is getting a surgery it sounds like it needs and it does sound like she will have a better life, but on a side note Vlad and I have been to Coney twice this summer (once for a baseball game--Go Cyclones--and another time for the hot dog eating on July 4) I will be sad when the inevitable gentrification happens.
